Once upon a time, in a small village near a dense forest, lived a poor but hardworking woodcutter named Rohan. Every day, he went to the forest to chop wood, selling it in the market to buy food for his family.
One day, while cutting wood near a river, his axe slipped from his hands and fell into the deep water. Rohan panicked—without his axe, he could not earn a living. He sat by the river, worried and helpless.
Suddenly, the river shimmered, and a beautiful fairy appeared. “Why are you sad, dear woodcutter?” she asked kindly.
Rohan explained his problem. The fairy smiled and disappeared into the river. A moment later, she emerged, holding a shiny golden axe. “Is this your axe?” she asked.
Rohan looked at the golden axe and shook his head. “No, that is not mine. My axe was made of simple iron.”
The fairy nodded and disappeared again. She returned with a silver axe. “Is this your axe?” she asked.
Rohan looked at it and said, “No, that is not mine either.”
The fairy smiled and dived into the river one last time. This time, she brought back Rohan’s old iron axe. “Is this your axe?” she asked.
Rohan’s face lit up with joy. “Yes! That is my axe. Thank you so much!”
The fairy was impressed by his honesty. “Because you are truthful, I will reward you,” she said, handing him all three axes—the iron, the silver, and the gold one!
Rohan thanked the fairy and returned to his village, where he lived happily, knowing that honesty always brings great rewards.
Moral of the Story:
Honesty is always rewarded in the end.
